A common question regarding EV charging is if one can use a regular house outlet for it, or as an electrician might put it, a 120 V circuit with a NEMA 5-15 properly grounded outlet. The answer is yes but it is not recommended. As you can see in this scenario, you are limited to 15 AMPs of current, where for every 1 hour of charging time you gain 4 miles of range. This is what is commonly called Level 1 charging
